Back up ends with 0X8100002F in "The backup completed but some files were skiped", is this backup unusable for restore or not?
This same question has been asked by other before but without an answer yet. I am using Window 7 "Control Panel\System and Security\Backup and Restore" to do my very first backup. I am having the same problem - Backup ends with 0X8100002F in "The backup completed but some files were skiped", " right now. However, I don't care about that one skipped file. All I want to know if the backup is all right or not - Can you please answer whether this error makes this backup unusable or can it still be used for restore later?????? Thanks. Background information: 1. I don't care about that one skipped file - I have no ideal about that file on the 32 bit part of my win 7, I am using 64 bit side of my Win 7. 2. This is my VERY FIRST backup. I need it to be a good one. It was horrible - it took 10 CDs and several hours to back it up. (if I knew better, I would buy an external hard drive). However, if possible, I really do not want to REDO it again right now. 3. Please do not tell me to fix the registery which requires a good backup in the first place. Furthermore, I need this backup works first, so that I can "edit" registery for any possible problem after clean up from the walware attack of "Win7 Antivirus 2012". This is a catch 22! 4. What do you all mean to "change the backup setting"? The only backup setting in "Control Panel\System and Security\Backup and Restore" is the schedule time. There is nothing else for me to change.

Hi , I would like to explain that the backup still can be used for restore later except the skipped files. You may refer to the following KB article to diagnose this issue Error code 0x8100002F and or error code 0x80070002 when you back up files in Windows 7Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support

For answer you should look intoLOG FILE. No one here has crystal ball to find, if missing files are important or not. For being sure, run command sfc /scannow and again see the log file that is generated by sfc. Regards Milos
